Reflection paragraph on sources

In my reseach I find my reseach really easy because I knew what I was looking for. The one about the Idaho School District because it was really close to my topic and it help me understand more about school fights and should students defend themselves. The one that was trustworthy was "Should I Teach My Child to Defend Himself." the one that shows bias is "Suspend student for self defense." These are the sites thtat helped me understand my topic more.

Reflection paragraph on process

The easy part of this reseach was looking up my topic because it was alot of information about my topic from the web. The thing I enjoyed most about this reseach was I got to express my self on how I feel about school fights. There really isn't anything I didn't like about my reseach. If  I had to do this again I would put more information and facts on my post.

Reflection paragraph on findings

The most important facts I learned while doing this is everywhere there are bullies and good students getting pulled in a fight because the bully starts picking on them or hitting them. The most surprising thing that I found out was a boy had got in a fight with a bully and got beat up badly but still got suspend because he hit the bully back. The questions I still have about my topic is: Will this rule ever change. What's the problem with defending your self. I still feel that a student shouldnt't get suspend for defending themselves.

Findings #3

In the student handbook it saids " that a other hits you if you don't hit them back you want get suspend." But, there is no one that are just going to just sit there and let someone beat on them. They are going to want to defend themselves. I still don't understand a little bit why do a student get suspend for defending themselves. I think that is the right thing to do if someone hit someone for no reason.

Findings #2

Why do the handbook say " say if you are 17 years old and you get in a fight the police department will be called on you. I think that the police department should be called on all ages because that's really telling the other ages that if they bully someone or fight they won't get in trouble like a 17 year old  will. I think if you are a teen and you fight some student for no reason at all and you are defending yourselve you should be arrested. Why does it really matter how old you are. A fight is a fight no matter how you look at it.

Findings #1

Why would the school suspend both students? Because like for example say a student gets bully everyday. And then one day the bully decied to try and fight the student. I feel that the student has the right to defend themselves and not get suspend because it wasn't his fault. All the student was trying to do is keep themselves from getting hurt real bad.

Quote, paraphrase, and citation #5

Quote:"Stanley T is the big daddy of the group, having 3 kids. We’re not only co-workers, we’re also very close friends, so we’ve been privy to watching how Stanley T deals with his children through many situations. Recently, Stan’s son was suspended, but not for anything he did. He was being bullied by someone at his school and he was going to get beat up and had to defend himself.Unfortunately, the school has a no contact policy and both Stan’s son and the boy bullying him got suspended. What we don’t understand is what exactly is his son supposed to do? Not defend himself and get beat up?"
Paraphrase: The site The Mash Up is trying to say that if this kid wouldn't have defend him self. What would he have done just sit around and let the bully beat him to death instead of defending him self.

Quote, paraphrase, and ciation #4

Quote: senior Alejandro Johnson, says he is a victim of the zero tolerance policy. "I was attacked," he said. "I was in the right, 100 percent. I was where I was supposed to be doing what I was supposed to be doing."
Paraphrase: What Hena Daniels the author is trying to say is. That Alejandro Johnson  shouldn't have got in trouble for defending when he got jumped on.

Quote, paraphrase, and citation #3

Quote: "Some children end up being pushed to far, where they can no longer take someone bullying them. They then feel the need to defend themselves. Or what about those children who get attacked by another group of children just because they don't like them. Are they just supposed to stand there and allow the other people to hurt them?"
Paraphrase: In the quote Renee the author talks about when would a student sit around and aloud themselves to get beat up by a bully.

In this photograph it shows bullying should be stopped. And if a fight happens the other person has the right to defend their self.

Quote, Paraphrase, and citation # 2

Quote: "The fact that Dist 91 let the bullying go on shows that they don’t really care to take action until physical violence ensues. The student did the right thing to defend himself. This is what we should teach our students–to stand up for themselves and have the courage to stand up to predators. Interestingly, our “educators” want to teach kids to be weak and rely on the government (schools) to protect them."
Paraphrase: In the quote Bundy the author talks about a student from Idaho defending himself. Bundy the author thinks that what the boy did was right because he couldn't just let the other boy hit him.

I chose this photograph to show how the handbook says that if you are 17 years old. That if in a fight in school the police department will be called to deal with you.

Quote, paraphrase, and citation #1

Quote:"Educators are trained to deal with bullying and other types of issues. Many schools have peer mediation, where concerns are addressed prior to escalating into a physical confrontation; however, an adult in the school must be notified there is a problem. Being proactive is always better than being reactive. Students have choices; they need to learn there are alternatives to violence in most cases."

Paraphrase: What I think the Dr. Michelle Alvarez is trying to say is kids have other choices instead of fighting. The author thinks the educators should be addressed that there is a problem before a fight is about to happen. Also, it is talking about teachers are trained to handle fight problems in the manner they should.

What I want to know about my topic

There are alot of question I have about the topic I chose. Because something's about my topic I just don't understand. And these are the questions I got about fights in school.
~Why do a person that was defending themselves get suspend to?
~Why in the school handbook it says "If you don't fight back you will not get suspend" when you really will?
~Why will the police department just be called on students that are 17 years old?
~How would the administration really know how to jugde who started the fight or just was trying to defend themselves?

What I already know about my topic

What I already know about fighting in school is. If you are 17 year old and older the local police department will be contacted to come take alway the person. Another, thing i know about it is that the handbook states "that students who do not fight back will not be punished." On that note I know some people can't just walk away from fights. The last thing I know is that students the were involved in any way to cause a fight will have the same consequences as the people that was fighting.

The story behind my topic choice

"Why when a students get in fights the student that was just defending their self gets supended?" The reason why I have chose this topic is because I can remember my 10th grade in high school. There was this fight that happen that a girl got hit and she decided to fight back and girls got supended. But, I thought that girl that started the fight should have just got supended not the other girl that was defending her self.
